Biography

Dr. Michael Fassett is an obstetrics-gynecology physician at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. He is Southern California regional physician-in-charge for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the area research chair for West Los Angeles/Kern County on the Southern California Permanente Medical Group’s Regional Research Committee. He also serves as associate professor in Clinical Science at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Fassett leads an active research program in perinatal epidemiology, investigating medical complications of pregnancy. He studies hyperemesis gravidarum, preterm birth prediction and prevention, risk factors associated with the development of autism and attention deficit hyperactivity, and issues with contraception. Collaborative Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review, which led to efforts that reduced maternal mortality in California. Dr. Fassett is also a senior examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s national certifying exam.
