Woojin Kim, MD

Dr. Woojin Kim is a physician specializing in gastroenterology and interventional endoscopy and the area research chair on the Southern California Permanente Medical Group’s Regional Research Committee at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. His primary research priority is per oral endoscopic myotomy, a procedure used to treat achalasia. A secondary area of interest is the use of endoscopic techniques to treat obesity, a newer treatment approach in its preliminary stages.  In both areas, he hopes to learn more about whether minimally invasive endoscopic interventions can perform as well as, or better than, established surgical or medical treatments. Dr. Kim is also interested in cancer-related research, specifically with stomach and pancreatic cancers.

Dr. Kim is a member of the Korean American Graduate Medical Association of Southern California, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
