Biography

Dr. Dennis Hwang is a sleep and pulmonary medicine physician and medical director of the Kaiser Permanente Fontana Sleep Disorders Center. He is also the regional co-chair for sleep medicine for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. He began his 2-year appointment in the Southern California Permanente Medical Group Clinician Investigator Program in 2019.

Dr. Hwang’s research in the program applies machine learning to predict patient adherence to PAP (positive airway pressure) therapy and the timing of non-adherence in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. His goal is to implement predictive algorithms as clinical decision support tools for clinicians inside and outside of Kaiser Permanente to improve clinical care and personalize care decisions for individual patients.
