Dr. Muntner is a professor and vice chair in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the co-director of the Pharmacoepidemiology and Economics Research Unit, and director of the Lister Hill Center for Health Policy. His research is focused on preventing, diagnosing, and treating hypertension, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular disease.

Additionally, Dr. Muntner is conducting studies of cardiometabolic complications among adults living with HIV and the role of blood pressure control in maintaining functional independence among older adults.
