R. James Dudl, MD
Dr. R. James Dudl is an endocrinologist with extensive clinical and research experience and a long-standing interest in diabetes control. He was the clinical lead for diabetes at the Kaiser Permanente Care Management Institute. In this role, he established an interregional endocrine group that uses metrics to implement and refine treatments to narrow or eliminate care gaps.
Dr. Dudl also established a cardiac prevention program using metrics on medication adherence. The program is associated with a drop of over 60% in myocardial infarction heart attacks at Kaiser Permanente in California. Dr. Dudl is an expert at using large system metrics as a primary tool to ensure the success of programs implemented to improve care. Before his current role, Dr. Dudl was co-director of the diabetes program for Kaiser Permanente in San Diego and then for all of Kaiser Permanente Southern California.
