Biography

Dr. Dennis Hwang is a sleep and pulmonary medicine physician and medical director of the Kaiser Permanente Fontana Sleep Disorders Center. He is also the regional co-chair for sleep medicine for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. He began his 2-year appointment in the Southern California Permanente Medical Group Clinician Investigator Program in 2019.

Dr. Hwang’s research in the program applies machine learning to predict patient adherence to PAP (positive airway pressure) therapy for obstructive sleep apnea.  The project is part of a broader effort to implement predictive algorithms as clinical decision support tools and identify refined and novel disease phenotypes towards the goal of enhancing personalized medicine and optimization of individual and health system outcomes.
