Biography

Dr. Chun Chao is a cancer epidemiologist who is interested in cancers that tend to affect young people. The primary goals of Dr. Chao’s research program are to generate evidence to better the care of cancer patients and survivors and to reduce the burden of cancer through HPV vaccination, screening and etiology research.

Dr. Chao’s current studies encompass epidemiologic and implementation research. Her areas of interest include health outcomes and care engagement in adolescent and young adult cancer survivors, strategies for improving cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination uptake, and risk factors for lymphoid malignancies and early-onset colorectal cancer. In addition to her position at Kaiser Permanente Southern California, Dr. Chao is a Professor in the Department of Health Systems Science at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J Tyson School of Medicine.
